Tell us about your diaper cake! We would love to hear all about it...
Who did you make it for?
This is my first diaper cake made out of size 1-2 diapers left over from my infant. Since I originally wanted to donate the diapers, I thought it would be grand to try and make a diaper cake for my friend's daughter who was having her baby shower.
Was there a theme or style you followed?
Due to lack of time, I quickly inquired and was told that the theme was a stork and the colors were baby blue and white.
How many diapers did you use in your cake?
I used about 100 diapers in the cake.
What were the ingredients?
Since there were so many diapers to donate, I used cardboard boxes for my first two layers, my daughter's white tutu to hold the third layer, and a paper plate to stabilize the 4th layer. Then the top had a shiny metallic and pearly arrangement from crafts store.
How did you make it?
I saw the instructions on your website and followed them for the last tiers. I used clear ponytail holders from my daughters stash to roll diapers up. The rolled up diapers were used in the first tier edges and the top tier. The rest of the diapers were stacked however they fit best into the boxes or held together with blue ribbon and a paper plate. I hid the boxes with two types of blue ribbon on the first tier and blue crystal pebbles and baby bottles on the 2nd tier. I also glued on baby bottles and blue crystal pebbles on the tutu. Since I did not add baby items to the diaper cake, like powder, rattles, etc., it really looked elegant. I was very impressed at how these diapers made such beautiful decor and could be used at a later time.
