I put together a "sprinkle" for a 3rd time mom. She knew she was having a girl, and her nursery theme was pinks and purples with butterflies, ladybugs and dragonflies. I decided a diaper cake would be perfect.

I made a diaper cake for both daughter's baby showers. The first was traditional, in pink, with a bear on top, the second had a "honey bee" theme in the nursery, so I used that on the cake, finding toys and rattles with a bee theme. I was trying to find some honey bees to add to the centerpieces. I couldn't find anything, so I made them from pipe cleaners.

This was my first diaper cake. It had a pretty simple theme - the recipient had some sassy brand bug-shaped grooming supplies on her registry, so I did a 'sassy critter' theme based on that. Inside the cake there is a box of wipes on the bottom two tiers and a tube of diaper rash cream on the top layer. It was pretty tricky to make the diaper wipers level, so next time I will use a car window shade to support the center since it would go through all three layers. On the outside there are three different critter-themed plastic bibs, some booties with bugs on them, some animal wrist shakers, a ladybug pacifier, and a tickle fish toy, all by sassy brand (except the pacifier). The bottom layer is covered by the bibs, the middle a receiving blanket, and the top a washcloth. Then the whole thing has curly ribbon to finish it off.

This cake along with matching wreath were made for my sisters baby shower. It is made up of almost 100 size 1 diapers. It has pink floral ribbon wrapped around the 3 layers. White flowers and blue butterflies are on the rim of the layers. It also has pink pens, pacifiers, and rattles.Pink and green ribbon streams from the top.I added the pink rose on the top at the shower. Both the wreath and the cake were big hits. The baby's room is decorated in pink roses and butterflies, so they will be used for years to come.

I am a relatively new internet based company and need to get the word out. I love your site. I've used it so many times....to plan my daughter's three baby showers. I made a diaper cake for her at her shower and then got so many compliments on it so I decided to open a business doing these. I also do wreaths and lollipop bouquets (out of washcloths). My website is www.TheDiaperBaker.com Absolutely I would love for you to credit me these pictures. I hope you like them....

I thought I'd share my diaper cakes with you. Thanks to this website I'm hooked and going to make another one this week. These are my first attempts at making a diaper cake. I used a paper towel roll wrapped with a receiving blanket as the center core. (your idea). Then as you can see I added onesies and other baby stuff as decor.

I made this 4 tier butterfly, lamp cake with 115 size 1 diapers, 4 receiving blankets, some Johnsons products, 1 baby bottle and a cute butterfly lamp. I used the bottle and the lamp to wrap the diapers around, and secured the diapers with rubber bands and once each layer was finished, tied ribbon around them to hide the rubber bands. Then I glued some cute little wooden butterflies to the ribbon. Then I found some little rhinestones at the craft store and used them to put the baby's name on the top tier. The lamp took alot of time to work around but I think it turned out well and is pretty unique!

I rolled diapers, secured with rubber bands. Tied ribbon around each level to hide rubber bands. On the outside row, i tied with ribbon instead of rubber bands. This cake seems to be everyone's 'favorite'. So fun to make.

Here is my ladybug diaper cake. Estimated assembly time is about 4 hours. Base was made out of a round styrofoam wrapped with a receiving blanket. Bottom tier is about 20 rolled diapers. Top tier is about 10 rolled diapers. Used double sided tape and pink ribbons to secure baby items. Pink felt ribbon to hold together tiers. Items included are: 3 receiving blankets (not including the base), 2 size 12 month onesies, 4 washcloths, NUK baby bottle filled with Hershey's assorted candies, box set of 3 sing-along CDs, 2 pacifiers, baby shampoo, soap, lotion and powder, and a lady bug singing toy on top. Decorated with pink silk flowers and lady bug embellishments.

One of my friends is finally having a baby after trying for over a year. I wanted her first baby shower to be extra special. I paid close attention to detail and I decorated my house with two different shades of pink with a touch of lime green. I added a little of whimsey with butterflies here and there, helium balloons, streamers, ribbon and tulle. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of everything! I wanted the food to look professionally displayed, so I looked everywhere online to find a nicely decorated reception table and surprisingly I only found one or two. Perhaps I wasn't wording it right? Anyhow, I managed to do one and hope others will be inspired! I found these little champagne glasses in the wedding section and these were little keepsakes. I filled them with little shrimp and a touch of cocktail sauce. Get it? "Baby" "shrimp", and they are "pink"? I know I'm cheesy, but everyone loved them! I did go a little steep on the cake. I really wanted it to be special and it came out great! I had the cake designer go off the Shower Invitation and they did a fantastic job! It had strawberry filling to go with the theme of pink! =D The cake is from The Cake Shop in San Antonio, TX. I decided to go pretty simple with the diaper cake. I didn't go with adding bottles, rattles, toys or anything like that since I went a little over on the real cake. But I thought this diaper cake would add decoration and went well with the theme. I simply decorated it with ribbon and letters found in the scrap booking section. A couple of feathers to add some height and a simple little butterfly that was a different color than the other butterflies I had pinned all around my house. Instead of using a store bought Baby Shower banner, I strung up little socks with a couple of onesies and used letters I found in the scrap booking section at a arts and crafts store and stuck them on the socks to spell out Baby Shower. I found little clothes pin party favors, they worked great to hang the clothes up. And at the end of the party I had a little basket with the left over clothes and told my friend don't forget her laundry! This site helped me figure out all the little details and inspired me to come up with other ideas! Thank you for all your help! I hope everyone's Baby Shower is just as memorable!

All of the other pictures from the baby shower are here.

Tell us about your diaper cake! We would love to hear all about it...

Who did you make it for? Made for my daughter's shower for her first baby, a little girl.

Was there a theme or style you followed? I started out with a girlie butterfly theme but added a few other insects and colors that she will be using in the nursery. The caterpillar seemed a natural add on to a butterfly/insect themed cake.

How many diapers did you use in your cake? I used a full box of Pampers newborns

What were the ingredients? I bought some cute butterflies, ribbon and a few other colorful insects. Then I added some baby spoons, pacifiers and socks.

How did you make it? Formed (by fanning) each layer around a paper towel tube (filled with tubes of Desitin). Instead of rubber bands, I tied the layers around with white floral wire and cover the wire with pinked checked ribbon. The white wire was especially helpful in hooking little butterflies and dragon flies to the sides of the cake. I topped it off with purple pink, aqua ribbon that match the nursery theme colors.

Tell us about your diaper cake! We would love to hear all about it... This is my first attempt at a diaper cake.

Who did you make it for? I made it for my sister.

Was there a theme or style you followed? Ladybug Theme.

What were the ingredients? 2 pacifers, a ladybug brush and comb set, a ladybug baby bottle, plain baby bottles for the inside, glitter ladybugs for decorations that can be used to make things for the baby later, a stuffed ladybug that came with an online storybook, foam ladybugs, poka dot ribbon, and white ribbon to tie everything on. I also cross stitched a baby bib with baby's name on it

How did you make it? I made this using the instructions I found on the internet.

Anything else you would like to share with us about your diaper cake or the occasion? This was a very special baby shower for my sister. She was doing a ladybug theme in the nursery so I did the ladybug theme for the shower. I have never been creative but after seeing the step by step instructions I thought I would give it a try. (Everyone thought I purchased the cake!) Now I can't wait to make another one.

Who did you make it for? Friend of a friend

Was there a theme or style you followed? We used the month of June cake based off the colors they wanted...summer time and butterflies

How many diapers did you use in your cake? 30

What were the ingredients? The cake had 2 rolled wash rags, 2 yellow baby spoons, and a butterfly clip. There was also ribbon on each layer, baby toy links (purple), a travel set of Johnson baby essentials and 2 girl hair bows.

How did you make it? I rolled each diaper and secured it with a clear rubber band. Then each layer is put together and held in place with string. I then hot glued on the ribbon for each layer. No glue is every put onto the diapers so that they can still be used. I then added on the items and hot glued them (if they could be) to the ribbon. Items that could not be glued were taped into place.

Anything else you would like to share with us about your diaper cake or the occasion? Im a June baby and love purple and butterflies so that was my inspiration for this cake.

Was there a theme or style you followed? The theme was pink and orange butterflies.

How many diapers did you use in your cake? I had about 80 diapers on the diaper cake.

What were the ingredients? I used spoons, bottles, ribbon, doll, colored rubber bands, bottle brush, pacifiers, bibs and diapers.

How did you make it? I rolled all the diapers, placed them around bottles, secured them with a rubber band and then put ribbon around them.

Anything else you would like to share with us about your diaper cake or the occasion? This was my first one ever and it was so much fun to make!
