Castle Diaper Cake
Check out this adorable Princess Castle Diaper Cake sent in by our reader Sylvia. She did an excellent job with the colors and overall look. I can imagine how much fun this was at the baby shower. Love the feather boas! They add a nice touch to the cake. Thank you so much for sharing your diaper cake photos and instructions with us Sylvia. You did a fabulous job on it!
Start with a black card board base to be able to move the diaper cake when done. Roll about 3 large bags of diapers, holding each one with rubber band. White or clear hair rubber bands work well. Buy a pretty box for the center to put gifts in and use this for your base. Put 2 layers around the bottom and secure with fishing line. Put another tier on top and secure. Be sure you are able to remove top of box.
Do the same procedure on top of box. Use a decorative round box for top of cake and add black tulle, flowers, and ribbon. Also put in a magic wand! Put ribbon secured with hot glue around each layer of diapers to hold tight.
The towers on the sides: I used Paper towel cylinders and glued diapers to them and secured with ribbon. I used black card stock and glued for top of towers and cut a pink boa in fourths and used around the top of each. I used a heart pick in top of tower, but you could also use a toothpick and cut a triangle out of ribbon and glue on. Use small ribbon on 2nd level and either use straight pin or hot glue to secure and glue the other end to bottom of diaper. This is your drawbridge. Added a crown, 1st tooth, and 1st curl boxes, pacifiers, stuffed animal and plaque for decorations. Added pink tulle around bottom. Lift off top of box and add gifts inside.
